People keep telling me about hope, i have heard that word ever since i was a kid, in church, from my friends, my parents. I keep on hoping but i never see anything good happening to me, i mean look at those preaching to the poor, they already have it all, but they keep preaching to those who dont have a thing and asking them to have hope and pray. I believe so much in God but i think some of us are just unlucky.

Sometimes i wonder if i will ever have a good life, i mean look at me, i am a twenty two year old who went halfway to college and then circumstances in my country made me end up as a refugee in a camp. By chance, i have this job that i somehow love but dont feel, if you know what i mean, the incentive is just close to nothing sometimes i just think the finance guy feels embarrased to hand us the money. Worst of all these, am not comfortable with my workmates.

Most of the mornings i wake up and feel that i dont have to go to work, what when there is WFP (World food programe) that provides food to refugees but then i remember that i need the experience. Today is even worse, am in the office preparing for some shoot, (Thats what i do) and i feel like walking right out and go somewhere am comfortable, i hate everything around me right now and i cant take any nonsense from anyone. I dont know what to do, am not at home anywhere and nobody cares anyway.

Apparently the PC did not come to the camp as had been planned which makes me wonder how the insecurity problems are going to be solved. As for now, the refugee community is enjoying calmness and there is no case of attack being heard but thats just for now, because the GSU unit is still around. We are praying and hoping that we will not lose our friends to gunshots anymore!

The rift valley provincial commissioner is to come to UNHCR on a mission to talk about the insecurity problem in the camp. There are rumours that the Head of sub office-UNHCR has proposed for a police station to be built in the camp inorder to serve the refugee community effectively. The police station cannot be built without permission from the gorvenment so the PC is coming to represent the government of Kenya in the talks. This will be a great move since the whole of Kakuma Division has only one police station which is meant to serve everyone including the refugee community. The building of a police station will asure the refugees of lasting solution to the security problems. we are waiting to see the results of the talks.

Right now, the GSU unit of Kenya has been sent to the kakuma camp i guess by request from the UNHCR to boost the security in the camp. one thing though, when the GSU are there the insecurities dont happen but once they are out of the camp the killers come back!

Right now, no refugee stays out late for fear of being beaten up by the GSU.

The Sudanese in the kakuma refugee camp began repatriating back to their country in the year 2007. apparently some of them did not sign the voluntary repatriation form, most of them did sign though. Now those who did not sign traveled to South Sudan by their own means. this year UNHCR kakuma announced for the profiling of all Sudanese, they wanted to find out the total number of all Sudanese refugees in the camp, you will not believe the number of them that turned up for profiling. All those who had gone back to Sudan and most of them who live in the Kenyan capital-Nairobi places like Kitale and Nakuru not to mention Eldoret, came back to kakuma for the profiling. After profilig, boda bodas were causing a jam along the somali community street, guess why, they were going back to Sudan, nairobi………can you believe it, UNHCR Kakukma has a tough job.

This is the place where most locals, the Turkana come to drink, it is also said that that is where plans to attack refugees at night are made, recently refugee from the lotuko community went to pick some money, the same night he was attacked and killed plus another man, stephen kenyi a teacher from Bor town secondary school, may their souls rest in peace, Amen.

it is like plans are out to wipe out the entire refugee community, which is not true and at the same time impossible.

The insecurity in kakuma refugee camp is not headed for an end, it seems. cases of attacks to refugees by the locals at night is still going on. young people in the camp especially in Uganda community do not sleep at night, instead they patrol around the community trying to look out for buglers.
